Hey Hey
A window of a black void

light shines through the flesh
illuminating the heart
and soul
then passes on to infinity

thought permeates through the ether
educating the innocent
and dead
then accelerates on to freedom

compassion passes through the spirit
appeasing the faultless
and true
then falls onto a window of a black void

©2005 Hey Hey

Well-observed and finely-drawn, my friend, and most germane to our experience!

I greet you and all our Commonwealth cousins on this 14 March, this Commonwealth Day; perhaps you can have a look at the poem which I have written for one most particular cousin in Canada who has been kind to me.

We all of us share and treasure so much wealth in common, best of all this great and grand old common English tongue by which we read and write and love our poetry; the greatest of all tongues of humankind to me.

Die Nacht ist vergangen; I feel that I am back.

Thank you for your steadfastness, and I was so sorry to see someone be so insulting earlier. My Grandma used to say "consider the source." I try and try to do that, but it always hurts me anyway. Know that you are loved, dear friend.

hey hey is he who attacks first
then in the light of day
thinks wiser to delete foul play
for attack couched in lite verse
Shawn
the openness and anonymity of the internet invites foul play and comic relief at the expense of others. Once you more fully realize it's usefulness as a tool, the silly game phase is usually left behind.

The "moved" hamstrel poem stands as evidence of nothing more outlandish than Monty Python fare. It garnered an over the top "Moderator" response, now deleted, which stated flat out that the police were being called.

Certainly, poets are a sensitive breed. This site has seen several rush off indignantly for little more than comments proffered in a spirit of help (for suicidal posts among others).

The bottom line, as you're well aware, is that having Moderators who also post in the forums they moderate, creates an unwelcome tension for both the Moderator, and those who post in his regime.

As for me, I've pretty much wandered on myself, but obviously, I get bored once in a while and tune in for the next installment of, "As the Brain Turns". ;o)

That's a good point; something I will keep in mind and maybe implement at some time.

moderating is a sucky job, but somebody has to do it (not me, though tongue.gif )
Hey Hey
Unknown will not be aware that much of what has been removed or diverted was undertaken by Shawn and not by me. For example, I noticed that the sick photograph of bloody hamsters was removed by him. But then again, why would I expect unknown to be aware of the mechanisms behind running a forum?

But it is obvious, even for a novice, that a "Poetry Board" is for poetry and not sick images of animal abuse (real or otherwise). And yes, as a moderator, I WILL delete ANYTHING that I feel is inappropriate for the board. I certainly will not entertain those types of images, or personal abuse.

ps "police" might have been a term used with respect to policing the forum (overall control via Shawn). But unknown probably would not understand this. But, my brother-in-law is a retired police officer and he has informed that the UK police would have an interest in anyone who posts images of animal abuse. The fact that they might turn out to be photoshop manipulated does not preclude an initial investigation. And, like me, he thinks that individuals who post such images need to seek professional help. He also indicates that transnational collaboration occurs with animal abuse offences.

Dan, the job is not sucky. I feel it is an important job, not least as it gives the chance to protect the young and innocent from the warped and dangerous. There are many talented young poets who use this board. They deserve respect.

As I have just written you, my dear friend, you certainly have all my love and support as well, and I know Shawn appreciates and honors you as I do. What we have witnessed was a deliberate provocation of you, the baiting of a trap, and I find it a pretty silly trick.

Thank you for all you do. You make the forum work, put quite simply, and I am grateful, as I know Shawn is as well.

And dear Supani, thank you so much for your support of my dear friend and able and devoted Poetry Moderator. You, Supani, are another great pillar of this place, and I honor you as well.

Thank you both, Hey Hey and Supani, for doing all you do to make this place meaningful and beautiful.

The original post in question was not a serious post for a poetry board. There seems to be some sort of hidden agenda at work which bears a rather disturbing element of personal animus against our moderator and is most unwelcome.

Peace, peace, peace; let us have peace, and let us compose and post poetry... not pictures of microwaved hamsters with accompanying provocative captions. Really, people: just think, that's all. Think before you post. And don't provoke; there's nothing to be gained by anyone through that.

Let us let all this folly fall of its own weight now.

All my love to all: PEACE,

+Stevie

The image was in bad taste. That is why I removed it. I don't personally have anything against graphic images, but do feel that visitors should not be unnecessarily exposed to such things. If there is an interest in a separate, private board over graphic images, then maybe one can be created. However, I need to know that interest in such a board exists before making one.
Hey Hey
Oh well, thanks for destroying my poem Unknown. At least to be reminded that there are demons out there might be a good thing. One can then try to avoid them or be prepared to deal with them. By the way Unknown, "demons" doesn't literally mean demons.

Hey Hey
Glad to see that you are able to contribute poetry! Albeit the one line!

ps For the record, I have no fondness for hamsters. When I was a child, my mother was cleaning out my hamster's cage with the vacuum cleaner. The hamster was accidentally sucked into the pipe. My mother tried to pull it out and it sank its teeth into her thumb. Much blood and screaming! It frightened me to death!
Hey Hey
Gosh, even knowns are now unknowns!
Hey Hey
supani, you are one of the lights in my life.
Unknown

poor sweet hey hey. you continue to revel in exhibiting the very trait which so disqualifies you for moderation. you are a petty attack poodle who cannot resist the temptation to insult and verbally punish those who dare post something which challenges your trivial sensibilities.

graphic example of attack poodle (no poodles were harmed in the posting of this image)

wouldn't you expect comment when you use your limited gift for words to toss out thinly veiled attacks - so thinly veiled that the first response is in the form of congratulation from the perfect master of syrup and overstatement?

your work stands or falls on its own merit, or as you note, lack thereof. You and steven vacillate between coddling each other in public view and using the forum to post public potshots at people who don't live up to your self percieved standards.

you accuse one of ruining your poem, when you are known for deleting entirely innocent posts at will, simply because the author didn't properly log in, like the one above who noted their confusion, followed by your helpful gif.

you leap to false conclusions of bloody hamsters where text clearly states barbque sauce. and then, to add insult to injury, your pathetic leap to assigning insanity and accusations of physical animal abuse based on a pic of a hamster's head pasted to a roast chicken is symptomatic of your lack of the good common sense. even that little bit required for such a minimal task as keeping watch over a forum where 3 or 4 post on any given day - yet by some miracle, great numbers magically view at some mysterious hour in the mid night calm.

it's clear that your retired bobby pal married into the proper gene pool. by your own description, you are both twits.

there, now i have responded in kind to your own childishness. what may i expect for having stooped to your depths?
Hey Hey

You have now insulted my wife, who's brother I referred to. But worse still, her insult is profound as she was adopted. You should take the decent way out and disappear from this forum.
Hey Hey
dear supani

contrary to the comments of the other unknown, my posting of the head with cogs was to indicate thanks for your posting and to suggest that this is a Brainmeta forum focusing on the intellectual pursuits surrounding neurosciences and the corporal outputs (esp words, via poetry) from neurological activities. I am sure that with your profound imagination you understood this, but I thought I would add this explanation in case others (!) did not.

Hey Hey
Hey Hey
ps supani, I know that it is a pain, but I reply here as the other unknown has no registered contact ID so that I can pm him/her outside of this board. What is their fear of being identified?
Unknown
adoption is a wonderful thing, when not used by small minds to punish those unaware.
Hey Hey
I think that we have now grasped the fact that you are a sick individual. I sincerely recommend that you seek medical help before your condition gets out of control. Tell them about the images you have posted and your inability to accept that others do not want to share them. It is possible that you might be treatable at this stage. But do not delay, I implore you.
Unknown
thankyou so much for your heartfelt advice.

does it elude you that it was you yourself who went way beyond my intent to assign a slur unintended by me to your dear adopted one?

does it escape you, the irony that you blather off medical and mental diagnoses based on the responses people make to your own childish attacks?

are you completely ignorant of the role Shawn expects you to fill as moderator? review his comment above noting his intentions regarding moderators who were unable to rise above personal involvement.

if there is a sick individual here, you of all are the least credible to point fingers, wouldn't you say? of course you would.. and that's what we love about you!
Unknown
btw, as far as ruining your poem.. you've now amassed a more or less legitimate 'read count' well above 100. congratulation.. and... you're welcome. smile.gif
Hey Hey
The read count could have been avoided by using pm's but you insist on being unknown, so my only communication route is here. Your hole is getting larger; stay away from the edge (and this forum).
Unknown
Have you never visited a forum where the duties of a genuine moderator are evidenced, without his or her being compelled to lash out? Here, in response to valid points, the "moderator" makes accusations of insanity and sickness.

As for read counts and pm's, this trifling tension is the best thing you have going for yourself old man!
Hey Hey
What's this about trifle. I like trifle.
Unknown
In my vernacular, it would be strawberry shortcake. At least, in its liking, we've found something we agree upon! ;o)
