ON MENDED WING
On mended wing she flies again.
A freer bird there's never been.
Renewed in faith she tests the wind.
Her broken love she does rescind.
She's found the strength to flap her wings.
Untethered now, she's cut the strings.
When bindings held, she failed to soar.
Unfettered now, forever more.
This burden lifted from her chest,
Resumed the beating of her breast.
Her wounds have healed from salty stings.
She'll settle not for lesser things.
She's focused now on inner beauty.
Her healthy heart's been called to duty.
She's mended bones and regrown feathers.
Better suited now, for storms she weathers.
The task at hand to raise her young,
Lifts her to the highest rung.
No obstacle can bring her down.
No happenstance can cause a frown.
Gliding on the northern gusts,
She's guided now, in God she trusts.
No stronger dove has taken flight.
A stronger love has conquered fright.
