Transcendental Sonnet #1308:
Thunder
amor vincit omnia
When I said the weatherman was mistaken it was I
Who turned out to be since it has been raining now: you see
For about three days the storm met with overseas delays
And during that bright and sunny time everything was dry
But not anymore! We are in for four or six or eight
Days of steady soaking as it came both better and late
So what do I do? I write about you and wait for sun
As none can take you from me now safe in my memory
The chain of the pain of the past now lies broken at last
I have come to love the rain now for it reminds me of
The sweet and ineffable tragedy of you and me
And of all our tears and of all our fears and the thunder
Speaks of eternal justice as I listen with wonder
I think of who did this to you and what he is: the guilt is his

there will be justice yet
and you will be avenged
so help me God
