Dark it is profound this night
Blacker night was never known
Dark so deep devoid of light
Thus it is to be alone

Yet one still point appears so bright
Dead eyes weep as if tricked by pain
But there is no mistaking this
Insistent omen in refrain
Clear and sweet as an angel's kiss
White-hot spark in cold and sable stain

Look up my love for you shall rise again

Through the night on the wings of light
Past your fears beyond all your tears
Free at last from the evil one
Suffering five and twenty years

Turns the wheel to twist the twisted
Turns so slow but turns so sure
He who would not be resisted
Finds that he has lost his sneer
Crushed is the cage released the pure
Captive dove and hobbled deer

The wheel by grace now turns to face
The little man who has lost his smirk
Justice cannot be purchased here
God accepts no payment for his work

Look up and see your new life begun
Death is dead he could not hold you
Love astonished him iron-fisted
Light of light strong to enfold you
