Valhalla of the Slain

Leaps the flame up bright and high
Probing tongues to taste the sky
Over Bifrost heroes wait
In the halls of Asgard great
From the battlefield below

Kissed by maiden flame of fate
Where their blood has soaked the snow
To Valhalla of the slain
There in peace the valiant know
That their blood ran not in vain

Slain in victory or loss
Both refined alike from dross
Spun from darkness into light
Unalloyed and nothing less
To the gold of everness

They who fought by faith not sight
Bore their triumph their defeat
Both alike in mien and might
Stood their ground with forward feet
Bear the purity of right

Here today no cowards burn
See this leaping flame and learn
Death and life are one my son
Life is not to win nor lose
But is never to refuse

Death is life today begun
That which must be must be so
Light fears not the dark below
March into the mouth of hell
With a shout and drag them out

Cowards cower in the dark
Darklings hate what can create
Flame enlightens strong and stark
Darkling sons of he who fell
Would but pervert and destroy

By your blood Valhalla's joy
Waits for you across the sky
Heroes only seem to die
Clarified by fire and pain
Bearing torches in the rain

Crack of doom no turning back
Burn away now all the tears
Pass the peace to those who lack
Liberate us from the fears
Of a thousand thousand years

Leaps the flame up bright and high
Probing tongues to taste the sky
In the torchlight we attack
We burn to be born again
In Valhalla of the slain

FANTASTIC poem! Since I've been busy with school I haven't really gotten a chance to post or comment. This was a great way to end my evening!! I'll try and stop by as often as I can. I had almost forgtten what a sheer joy it is to read your work

Hey, thanks!

I was honestly beginning to think that nobody liked this one. In fact, I was just talking to someone about that a minute ago.

I'm relieved! Thanks again.

I'm so glad you enjoy my work.

Respect and solidarity,

+Stevie
