Never Apart
Can one who does not love be self-contained
Content and continent within himself?
Love is a trial sometimes as by fire
But is denial of innate desire
The answer for the fearful or the pained?
Should one speak of love only for the shelf
And not directed toward some loving ear?
Speaking to the void from a loving heart
The ghosts of love are summoned and appear
And will not be denied their vital part
Assigned to them by loving memory
They say that only those who love can find
Peace with these spirits and the peace of mind
To live and be and write wise well and free
My love is lost but I have memories
Speaking to the void from a loving heart
My lonely dreams are spun of only these
But my love and I are never apart
