Transcendental Sonnet #1295:
Her Kiss

The slanted sunshine of late afternoon
Floods in my window and covers me now
Here where I lay in the light of the moon
Just hours ago this brightness warms my brow

I lie here under five blankets and see
It all go up come down and turn around
And I turn with it here without a sound
It seems to have nothing to do with me

I cannot get warm as I watch the swarm
Of life go on as if I never were
Yet I was and am and would like to be
Above all I would like to be with her

When the sunshine touches my face like this
I swear to you that I can feel her kiss
