Embracing Mystery I Face the Dawn

for someone far and near

A single star seems to me a shard
A fragment of an enormous whole
A diamond flashing bright and hard
Like the secret sparkling in my soul

I can see now there is so much more
To us just as there is to the sky
Than the little most are striving for
So much more than just to live and die

I embrace mystery because life is
A secret most will never understand
Universal riddle of God and his
Inscrutable design of destiny

I face the dawn as I open my hand
To accept whatever he has for me
