Transcendental Sonnet #1278:
He Killed Her Yet He Dies
Safe from the monster who would not relent
Perversity which would never repent
Safe from the one who could only resent
Her natural superiority
And that the only one she loved was me!
Safe at last now nevertheless
From a past filled with bitterness
Safe from brutality and hate
Victory never comes too late!
The fox escaped the hound
The hound is bound for hell
In heaven she has found
She beat him wise and well
He killed her yet he dies: she is content!
