Thank you with all my heart!

I'm back now. Shawn hasn't fixed my title-thing on the site yet, but he will (or so he said), and I'm totally back. Even if he never gets round to fixing the title-thing, I'm back anyway; I mean, all the banned members are back, so why the f**k shouldn't the forum founder be? It's like a reunion! It's a party!

I'm sorry I haven't been more active here of late; Silke has been really, really sick, and I've been so worried, and that has gone hard with me vis a vis depression and such.

I've been writing though, and I've been really active at AuthorsDen, where--honestly--I spend most of my time when online these days (nobody's mean to me there, and they actually buy my books, after all, nor is there any neuroscience [j/k; what I mean by that is: poetry is considered important there]); here is my site there:

http://www.authorsden.com/stevencurtislance

It links to all my books, poems, all that sort of thing; we have a bookstore and everything. People buy my books right there, or can go to Blackwell's or any sort of bookstore right from AuthorsDen; they have that FetchBook thing. Cool cool.

I'm totally vegan, weigh 122, exercise constantly (obsessively), and listen to a lot of old-school punk, mostly Ramones and The Clash, cranked up loud. I take meds for anxiety and depression exactly as prescribed, and drink a lot of Twining's Earl Grey but no alcohol at all anymore. I quit smoking a few years back.

This forum photo is the single most unflattering representation of me ever made in any medium; next to it my passport mug is a glamor shot. I desperately need a new photo. Also I weigh more than twenty-five pounds less now and am clean-shaven. I believe I was drunk on Gin when this horrible thing was taken (back when I used to drink, of course)...

I am very close to my three really cool children: Maria Catherine, 21; Steven Curtis, Jr., 19; and Teddy (Theodore Patrick), 14. They keep me young. They say that I am cute and waif-like, and all agree that I look thirty, tops. My namesake son Stevie has a gang which stands ready to hunt down and kick the F**KING ass of anyone who insults me on this site. Oy! Oy! Oy! Also a really good band. Sock or rock.

Knowing nothing of death, I cling to life as my only hope, and aspire to be a really good poet by the time I die.

We Lance men are all poets, and we all live an absurdly long time. The last of us to die was my grandfather Guy Lance, at 102, in 1993. He was an Englishman, Gawd bless 'im; the rest of us were born here in what is now the Bush, the Reich, whatever; the republic become the empire, as in Rome... I voted for Kerry, but fat lot o' good that did, eh? What I mean to say is I'm just getting started.

In any case, I'm back here. And I have learned not to be so thin-skinned, not to let weirdos hurt me here. If some loser insults me, f**k 'em. I'll stay cool. I have decided to say f**k, by the way--or whatever else I please--whenever I F**KING feel like it, from now on. When you turn fifty, all bets are off; I do what I please from now on.

I'm back and ready to kick butt, albeit in a well-bred and one would hope an elegant manner, mind you, always with a bit o' style and grace, never mind the occasional f**k.

Thank you thank you thank you to all who have stood by me these crazy years here, and who have asked me to return. Here I come!

Right then!

Hey! Ho! Let's go!

Happy Birthday, and Happy New Year!

I think Shawn might have mixed feelings, and I have a few myself, but so many have been so wonderful and asked, so here I am.

It's my birthday and I can say whatever the f**k I please. And now that I'm fifty one of my New Year's Eve birthday resolutions / revolutions is to ALWAYS say--and DO--whatever the f**k I please.

Get used to it. At least I'm for real.

All my love to all!

Happy Bday and Happy New Year Steven! I fixed your title after reading your post. Sorry for letting it slip past me. I'm glad you're staying around, as I'm sure many other people are too who enjoy your contributions. I have been taking something of a breather this holiday and getting some R&R. I'm looking forward to this upcoming year. At some point, I will update the forum, beyond the basic maintainence I've been doing. There are new web technologies emerging, and I need some time to assimilate this information before making my next move with regard to forum updates and modifications. It seems pointless to make minor mods here and there while missing out on the opportunity to transform this forum into more of a web service, something that takes advantage of emerging web technologies, and that will be much more useful for everyone involved (the end-users).

Anyway, I wish everyone here a Happy New Year, and hope that you all enjoy your New Year's Eve today/tonight and are looking forward to the ushering in of the new year.

Thank you so much, Shawn and Jameson. I wish you both, as well as Hey Hey and Angela and everyone else here in our community, a new year which is truly better, happier, and more meaningful than the one just past; may our lives get better, and may we be sparks in the dark to make our whole world better, and the lives of all, whether through light or through fire.

Happy New Year.

It's good to be home.

Revolution Resolution

This is a New Year's revolution
New Year's Eve birthday resolution:

To say and do exactly what I please
Nor crawl to the unworthy on my knees
To never kiss another stupid ass
But wait for the stupidity to pass
And I will still be here
Of that I have no fear

Because I am going to live forever
You ask how I know? Because there has never
Been anyone like me
And I intend to be
Myself in all my specificity

And those who do not like me may go straight to hell
To fool with fools no longer is a lesson well
Learned well earned well burned and all of it the hard way
Today is my birthday and today I can say
And can do whatever I damn well please
Today I rise to get up off my knees

The struggle has taught me again and again
To live with what is and not what might have been

Dear Steven,

I know I'm a bit late, but Happy Birthday. 50 is indeed a wonderful milestone and here is hoping that you have another 50. I'm happy to hear you are back and are staying. I'm hoping to be around a bit more myself then I have been the last weeks. Time flies and all that nonsense.

Here's hoping your birthday was a good one.
Happy New Year too!!!
Love always,
Michelle

Thank you so much, Michelle!

Yes, I'm back to stay. This is home, after all.

I really appreciate your kind wishes.

Hey, you want to see my site at AuthorsDen?

I've gotten it just about how I like it now:

http://www.authorsden.com/stevencurtislance

It's nice because I can sell my books there.

But I learned the hard way there are a LOT worse poetry sites out there than this one we have here! Good Lord a-livin'!

It's just good to be back. I think everything will be just fine.

Happy New Year to you, my friend and fellow poet.
