A friend of mine really liked this, so I thought I'd try it out here, honest opnions people, but be kind...

I waited for your grip to loosen.
Soon it would be over; my heart would be mine once more.
But here I wait, and you still won’t let go.
I’m trying to cross a road, this one opposite you,
But I feel like that stupid chicken.
I can’t cross yet, traffic’s heavy.
How long must I wait?
When will your chains melt away?
When will my light turn green?
You act as if it’s all over, as if there’s nothing left in your hand.
Here I continue to fold, falling for my own bluff.
This is my tell, why I can never win.
Why all the cards are yours.
Why I’m that damn chicken, waiting, wishing, and wanting.

I am hoping for your grip to loosen
and that soon it will be over,
But while I sleep
you still won?t let go.

I am trying to cross this busy street
to reach the opposite side of you,
But I feel like such a stupid chicken
watching those heavy wheels turn.

How long must I await for death
to melt away these empty chains,
Held firm by your invisible hand
as you act as if it's all over.

Yet I continue to fold your lines
only to fall beside my own bluff,
Where I can never win this game
within your house of cards.

And who is this yellow curd
waiting and wishing here,
Maybe hoping for some green heart
to come and make her real again.
