Are you human today?
Tell me before I kiss you good morning. There are so many risks in a monster's embrace. I've felt the talons on my back Carving cloth and flesh away Within the gentle curve false loving made. Are you mortal at all? Do you feel the razor you hold? Is the blood that stains linen domesticity Ignored in pride's morphine-laced fold? If I died tommorow Would you even say a prayer for me? I wish you would . . . I've begged upon brusied knee for God to salvage thee. Though you strike me, Slice me through, Take my heart and wring from it The tenderness I wished true, I find that I'm addicted To your toxic cologne and arsenic-laced kiss. Someday I'll break the habit Of my hopeless love of you. Until that day, I turn my back And close these burning eyes And hope you think I'm sleeping In the glare of first break light. WON'T SOMEBODY SAVE ME?? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is by no means from personal experience, so please do not worry about me. I can hold my own just fine. *evil smile* |

Love is such a funny thing. When everything works, it's the most incredible part of life. When it doesn't, it's every bit as incredible in the opposite extreme. You've captured the downside beautifully.
Glad to hear you didn't have to suffer it to nail it dead on in this one.. BTW, I really like this one. It's what poetry should be in my book. With your permission, I may copy this one off to read again sometime.. |

Great imagery here and a fine story in poetry.

Yes, amazingly poingant piece of writing. What was the inspiration? This is perhaps the finest writing I have seen from you. You really captured the feelings well and made us all feel the tension, the fear, the loathing, the anagonizing. It was such a real post I was surprised by your little note at the bottom. I absorbed every word like a little sponge! Kind of a thriller of sorts that I thoroughly enjoyed after realizing it wasn't "Megan's cry for help". I simply love your writing. Refreshing, vivid, full of emotion and integrity. You have given me many a smile. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Hey Hey, for your kind words. They are much appreciated.
Thank you, also, Kevin. To tell the truth, I was wondering if it was my place to write such a post, since I have not experienced such hopelessness in a relationship. Nor will I. EVER. I have, however, been watching many Lifetime movies of late. Weird sort of inspiration, I know, but seeing the suffering others go through in such movies, and, unfortunately, in real life, I felt the need to try to channel the emotions they feel and put them into words. To tell the truth, I felt that this poem was somewhat sub-par . . . I don't know why. Probably because it didn't look like I "raped the thesaurus" as my brother so lovingly accuses me of. I just didn't feel that extensive vocabulary would flesh out the piece. But I'm glad that you liked it. ~Much Love To All~ Megan |
