QUOTE (Unknown @ Aug 18, 02:37 AM)
From a serious discussion about the growth of this forum to a juvenile disscussion about the in's and out's of abbreviations

woo hoo way to go

isn't that one of Murphy's laws or something, that every serious discussion will degenerate sooner or later into nonsense? This "law of degeneration of intelligent discussion" seems to have its basis in the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, which states that in a closed system, entropy can only increase or remain constant as time increases. In our case, entropy corresponds to nonsensical or otherwise stupid comments.

Notice who the two in nonsensical dialogue are: "Anonymust" and "AmbientSnowflake." These two are all over the forum, and they always leave nonsense in their wake. I am utterly sick and tired of their degenerative effect on this forum to which I have devoted so much of my life since we began it on 22 January 2003. I work hard here every day, I support it financially as well as with my very best effort, and it hurts my feelings that a couple of juvenile potheads can debase and degrade what we take so seriously with so little effort. I suppose if they ever get around to reading these my words through the smoke they will flame me; so be it. They just really depress me.

Don't take me too seriously. I can't speak for anonymust, but I'd think she'd say something like this, "I came here because someone said there would be punch and pie." We may never know.

I haven't smoked pot in a really long time. I haven't had a sip of alcohol in more than a year. I smoke cigarettes regularly.

This is a place for any, and every person who chooses to be involved in an online community.

Life isn't meant to be taken seriously. We're all just wondering around like chickens with our heads cut off.

I don't know, dude. I don't know what to tell you anymore. Nothing will make amends. I try really hard to be nice. We don't have to be friends. I figure we can just ignore each other, and leave it at that.

I forgot to log in when I wrote this line

'tis always prudent to put one's name to one's own work be it wrong or right

The following message from "unknown" wasn't me but I agree with it wholeheartedly

I tolerate irreverent a lot better than malevolent. Some comments hastily posted in the spirit of fun can sometimes be misinterpreted as a personal attack. I haven't seen anything here from a member that was truly intended to hurt, so let's give each other the benefit of the doubt. If a post should not meet someone's personal standard of minimum seriousness, maybe we can just let it go. The essential good nature of the human being involves a level of playfulness, something that is essential in many kinds of good poetry. Let's put blame behind us and look forward to more poetry.

Because he spoke up for poetry, soon this site just might stop being ashamed of it and ghettoizing it.

I found this place with a google search on consciousness expansion. I came here for how the neuroscience relates to the hard problem of consciousness, but now I read the poetry too.

For all the scientific and philosophical work in the field to date, it might just be possible that the poets will approach or surpass as good an explanation as can ever be found.

Of all the assertions you've ever made, Rick, this last one might just be your greates to date. This is a visionary statemente, if I may say. And I fully agree with you on it too, for the record. I found this site looking to share a life-changing vision I once had. And only here I found a captive audience. Hoorray for Brain Meta!
