Maybe there is a relationship to family issues and what type of poems a person likes. I for one like dark and deep poems, poems about feeling hurt and confused. I can relate to those poems and that is a direct result of my family and how I was raised.
We could also have this discussion in the poetry forum if it is more appropriate there. Lets see what others think.

Love,
Dara

No need to apoligize, it is ok to voice your opinion! I hope you feel better...it has been one of those days for many of us I guess!

Take care!

Hi jasaljr,

Welcome to Mind-Brain.

I have moved your post here, on the POETRY BOARD to keep poetry topics together.
You raised it in the Families Board and as Dara says, there is no reason why there should not be poetry written about families. Indeed, I would encourage it! Poetry can be written about any topic. I have given you directions in a response to your welcome message and query.

I apologise for the apparent lack of flow this has caused [I have removed the posts by 'Try', which cancelled themselves out].
I hope all is well; that is my intention.

All the best Bill. [This, my post to be removed in 4 weeks]

hello and welcome,

Although I agree I love poetry about love, I like to read the one's written by men and about their love!!!
but I appreciate all kinds of poetry that has true emotion, imagery, etc...

I like poetry that gives meaning to life and dreams and love. Poetry that offers advice and a new fresh look on how we can really perceive all that surrounds us.

The sad...extremely emotional poetry although most common (I think simply because poets tend to write their best pieces in times of very deep emotional turmoil).. tends to drains me after too much reading... I thrive on uplifting poetry that really opens my eyes... and can relate to the entire world rather then just one persons experiences.
