As the title states I'm new to the idea of nootropics and would like to learn more about them. I have some krill oil, but I'm not sure if that is okay to take with nootropics.

Nootropics include ubiquitous substances like caffeine or l-theanine. They also include things like nicotine, modafinil, piracetam and others. A good place to start is the wikipedia entry for nootropics.

As previously stated, the idea is that nootropics enhance cognition.

What does this even mean?

It's unlikely that any particular substance is going to appreciably affect your IQ.

With nootropics, it's much easier to improve concentration and motivation than directly enhance actual intelligence. Nicotine gets close, because it improves working memory (even in healthy individuals)...
