I find that my restriction of food has left me with nothing I can eat, aside from lettuce and corn flakes. And now, I dont even want those things. It is bad because I used to eat fruits and veggies, now I cannot. I used to eat salads with veggies in them, now I can only eat the lettuce. Has this happened to anyone else with an ED? have you ever restricted so much that there is nothing left? There are days when I cannot eat a thing, the thought of it makes me sick. The thought of eating an apple makes me sick, the thought of eating carrots makes me feel sick. I used to eat those things...it is so odd. I dont think about it either, it just HAPPENS, I just cant eat most foods anymore...
THINKING about eating makes me feel sick! I hope someone can understand me, not many people do... Bye! Love, Dara |

Dara,
I sympathize with your aversion to food. I've struggled with the same problem for years. Do you ever find that you do uch better with highly-processed foods? My first memories of my ED -- I was a young adolescent -- are of being repulsed by most foods in their more basic forms. It was a hideous ordeal even to think about consuming milk, vegetables, meat (which I still ate, way back when), etc. I could eat potato chips, but not a baked potato. Milk smelled and tasted disgusting, but ice cream was ok. I couldn't tolerate being anywhere near chicken, but I based my diet around dreadful, sodium-filled chicken Cup-a-Soup. I guess I couldn't stand to eat real food, so I chose items that were several times removed from their natural states. |

WOW Lori, that is interesting, though I cannot say I am the same way...
I dont eat meat, or anything like chicken, fish, etc...so there goes broths and soups. I dont like things that are from cans, or frozen foods. The best veggies are fresh, then I would nuke them, but not anymore. I really have a problem lately, moreso than ususal, with what I can eat. I am extremely picky, picky to the max I guess! But, I a a real cheap date when I go out! LOL...got to find the bright side somewhere... Love, Dara |
