ok everyone I hope you are reading and praticipating in this quest on promoting awareness of disorders and diseases!

but gathering education we can have a clearer understanding of those around us who may be dealing with a disease or disorder......

Aniexty is yet another that I posted about on here please read about here on the disabilities forum!

Next we can talk about Bi-polar disorder but please be aware if there are other disorders or diseases that may begin with an A be sure to let me know and we can discuss about that one to....the more we learn the better.

ok Dara I may need your help on this one as I only can vaguely talk about it. Maybe you can help to explain to us about it. or anyone who may know first hand about this disorder. I know there is or was a medication for this Lithum I think ??? I know it had to do with a persons emotions and mood. People can go from an exteme high to an exteme low.

                                                         Chrissy

Awareness helps to make us stronger.

Bi polar disorder is very dangerous if not taken care of. People can be severely depressed for weeks, followed by an intense manic phase. They can seem like they are on speed, when the case is that they are just bi-polar(AKA manic-depressive, but that is the old term).

I suffer from depression, I cannot imagine bing torn between the extreme low of depression, to the extreme high of mania.
Medication can help regulate the chemicals in the brain causing this disturbance. DO we have anyone else who can help add info to this topic?

Hope this helped!

Love, Dara

Hello , Here is a bit of info on Bipolor Disorder

Cyclomythia- this is a milder form of bipolor with mild highs and mild lows

Bipolor ll type is periods of "hypomania" highs and lows without the mania

Bipolor l type is extreme degrees of highs and lows
mania - euphoric , flights of ideas, invincibility, believing they have a special mission, often hyperesexual, erratic, pressured speech , less need for sleep

Rapid Cyclers type is moods switching within hours ups and downs,

Mixed states- alternating between elation, exstasy and irritability anger which oftens flys into rage
(IMHO this is the worst)

Chrissy there is excellent resources available on the internet as well , to learn about the various types of bipolor
if I can be of help let me know , I have type 1
