Hi, I have terrible short term memory and since I don't eat meat I don't have any Vitamin B12.

After goggling around I came up with a small list of supplements:

A general multivitamin and mineral supplement.
GPC choline
Acetyl-L-Carnitine
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Vitamin D3, 5,000 IU
Vitamin K2
Alpha GPC
Vitamin B-12l, 2000Mcg
Chelated Manganese

Does anyone think this would be a good combination?

Thanks

No. Why can't you eat meat?

Meat grosses me out.

So all that stuff is gonna cost me £150 at least, if I'm going to waste my money would you please tell me?

I'm about to order in a few minutes.

Could anyone shed even just a tiny bit of light on why this is not a good combo for improving short term memory?

I am all for it. Meat is not necessary so long as you have ample flax seed oil in the diet, or take a few grams of fish oil a day. Oh and don't forget the B12! Might be easiest as a B-50 complex, but the mega B12 might give you more energy. I am no expert, but looks like a good clean combo.

*I approve*

Bare in mind I am on the completely natural path now myself and understand we don't all want to have nasty meat farts and/or respect animal rights.

Thanks Flex! My goal is to improve lousy short term memory (which used to be pretty good).

I somewhat disagree. GPC choline and Alpha GPC are the same thing and besides that. Unless he if deficient in choline levels. Interfering with these levels may provide minimal benefits.

Like Flex said, it would be more convenient to take a B-Complex instead of supplementing each coenzyme.
Vitamin D3 is disputable. Do you consume dairy products?
Vitamin K2 (expensive) is disputable. Does your diet consist of mainly veggies?
ALCAR & ALA are a good choice. You should look into creatine though given your circumstances.

Another thing, sorry if I came off a little rude Astralogic. Hard to tell whether you're a legit member.

Oops I forgot about price. I used to care about that one lol. I am barely getting back into reading for now, so my posts will be mainly don't kill yourself in the near term focused. Good points Ken.

Yes they are the same thing, it turns out I only bought Alpha GPC. I wrote GPC Choline in the list accidentally and confused myself :/

Which of the items on my list are the coenzymes? Ie, which ones should be replaced with a b-complex?

Yes, much cheese and milk.

Not really, my diet consists of cereal (some healthy some not), beans, pasta, and not much else really. Terrible I know.

Never could you get adequate vitamin D from Dairy or any other food in the world. Its Sun or Pills. at least 2,000 IUs daily is required for the average person.

I was gonna mention the sun part. Get more sun! Ozone depletion means you will have to spend less time outside to get same amount of vitamin D. Congrats.

Q: Which of the items on my list are the coenzymes? Ie, which ones should be replaced with a b-complex?
A: Sorry, vitamins are coenzymes.

Q: What's a legit member?
A: Not a fake account or posts once and is offline after permanently.

Switch to organic dairy products if possible. Your current diet is horrendous. Add some variety.

Maybe add creatine.

Also consider training with dual-n-back, the only game with studies to support that it may improve working memory.

I would argue the card game, "memory" probably helps improve memory wink.gif Long history of use anyhow. Actually all video games in general have been scientifically validated to improve cognition. Dual N back is more of a fun trick IMO. Variety is best. Try learning a new language, or a new skill!

Do you recommend all three vitamins (B12, k2, D3) to be replaced with a b complex? Or just B12?

B12 could be replaced by the B50, K2 can be replaced by dark leafy greens, D3 also falls into the dark and leafy/sunlight time. You can pretty much take care of all of the above with diet and the B50. Throw some fish oil on there if anything.

Lol yeah that can happen. On the flip side, it may be that dual n back testing is not all that much better than a lot of the more challenging video games, it is just more difficult to get a validated study on a commercial product, meaning it just doesn't happen. No one is going to program a bad ass video game and not sell it smile.gif If you could test Guitar Hero in a lab, I am sure you would discover all sorts of benefits.
