This depends on how I answer....

The coolest movies, that ones that made an impact or were really well done;

The Hunger - Amazing cast, superb music and cinematography, and an awesome story. (Added bonus, Bauhaus plays the opening)
The English Patient - This movie, gosh, I can't even begin, if you haven't seen it, rent it, now! Stop reading, go get this movie
The Wall - Great visuals, many levels to appreciate on.
Blade Runner - Such a complete world, great soundtrack
The Big Lebowski - Not very artistic, but a great attitude

Fight Club - an interesting display of schizophrenia and a perspective on life

Anyone ever fall in love with a movie Character?

ahh, Fight Club was an excellent movie, though I had the movie figured out (in terms of who or what Brad Pitt was) soon after the beginning.

I haven't seen 'Empire of the Sun', but want to now.

I have always liked the Dune movies, both David Lynch's version, and the newer versions (which includes Children of Dune). Of course, they don't compare to Frank Herbert's novels, though.

The Last Samurai was pretty good, masterfully orchestrated to play with your emotions (in a good way), though initially, I was very sceptical that Tom Cruise could pull off the role of a samurai wannabee. Nonetheless, he did an excellent job, in my opinion.

The Matrix is also good, though the sequel was worse than the first, and the third movie (and final?) was just plain incoherent, for the most part, though some of the special effects were memorable.

I have so many favorite movies, but alas I shall only list a few.
Requiem for a Dream, Pi, Fight Club, Ghost World, Better Off Dead, and,Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Not being too gifted as a movie critic, I have nothing to say about these
movies that hasn’t been said better by someone else. So
each title comes with a link to their respective critic’s reviews. My
rating system is pretty simple: If I liked the movie enough to watch it
a second time around, and I still liked it enough to want to see it
again one more time, I grant it one star; and so on up to a maximum of five
stars. If I have granted a movie five stars, therefore, it’s because I’ve
seen the movie at least five times and I can hardly wait to see it again.
With that in mind, here is a partial list (all five stars) of my favorite movies
of all-time. Most of them are Cult Classics (either you get it or you
don’t) but this was just a happy coincidence; and they are all really dam
good. Some are hard to find anymore, but well worth the effort.




1- Repo Man My favorite amongst favorites, this movie is the ultimate cult classic in the true sense of the term, though. So, don’t blame yourself if you don’t like it.


2- Blade Runner Who can forget those haunting scenes in a murky future where man-made
machines run wild and out of control!

3- They Live Another cult classic. Cleverly constructed social satire

4- Lifeforce . A cult classic with a twist on the vampire genre.


5- Matewan . John Sayles’ greatest achievement (IMHO)

6. Heaven and Earth I’ve never seen a movie that captures the true samurai spirit in its
purest simplicity the way this one does: Die at the peak of beauty, like the
sherry blossom


7- Quest for Fire A time capsule. Unforgettable scenes about a time long gone.


8. Swingers A hilarious comedy about the misery of being single in 90’s L.A. Funny and clever.


9- Donnie Darko Whether it’s about time travel or not, this movie always leaves me
wanting more of it.


10- Ninja Scroll I pity the fool who still doesn’t think that this is the best Japanime
ever made.


11- American Beauty .We all know about this one.


12- The Terminator .Edge of your seat excitement. Who needs theme parks!


13- The Matrix .Hollywood at it’s best is always when they manage to stuff both form and content in the same movie. Such is the case with this one.

I'm sure that there are more greate movies out there that I don't know about. so, share your comments and keep them good movies coming, please.

I was in hospital and had just woken up from a coma (encephalitis due to a csf leak) and had been taken from intensive care back to the general ward. I couldn't sleep and caught this movie on TV part way. I was mesmerized. The first ever true representation of what it is like to have migraines. Also some crazy math. I bought the DVD to view the film again under more relaxed circumstances. Amazing and the B&W gave it crispness and seriousness. Highly recommended, but keep off the ergotamine! (Thank goodness for the triptans).

Trip, are you serious about "Swept Away"??? I have a mental list of movies that I like simply because they're soooo bad. That one is on it. So is "Ishtar" and "Glitter." Woody Allen's "Interiors" was there for a while, but I started liking it just a little bit. Now I don't know where to file that one...

No 'Freak talks' But if it's good, I'd like to see it. Yea! Quest for Fire is unforgettable. And Rae Dawn Chong butt-naked in it doesn't hurt, either (oops!). But that's not why I like this movie so much. It's actually everything about this movie, not just Rae Dawn. She's just a bonus. I had NetFlix and dc'it. Some movies were getting lost in the mail and guess who had to pay for them. It's not all rosy with this new mail flix system. They need to straighten their kinks. I think the DVD machines are the most convinient, but they are not very popular yet. Only some Mac Donalds have them.
