AN ANGEL AMONG US

There's an angel among us
And she gave us back our girls.
The one who left the twins behind
And the one with banana curls.

A long and painful journey
Down the path that led us here.
Fruitful were her labors
As she battled through her fear.

Circled by the guardians
So she wouldn't be alone
Someone painted baby's nails
To make herself well known.

There are angels among us
And I feel them in the air.
Electric in the dark this night
They surround me everywhere.

Opening the gates to flood
My emotions are laid bare
Again the tears of joy they fall
As I sense the presence there.

The spirits come to comfort me
Behold, they sound the horn.
To start the celebration
Of another angel born.

They flock to meet the newest lamb
And to see what God has willed.
Finally, a joyful heart
And the well of souls is filled.
