I live very close by and my whole school has been aware now. The surgery he had yesterday failed and he may never be able to walk again. I will attempt to call the parents and set up a meeting with them to discuss alternative treatments. The chances are slim but it's better than nothing.

Well this issue has developed significantly the past couple days. I finally contacted the relatives and hope to get a response soon. Again, I don't expect a reply but hopefully the fund-raiser we started will change their minds into considering it as a viable alternative otherwise he will stay paralyzed for life.
