Does anyone have any experience taking these two compounds? I would like to hear some comparisons or thoughts on the individual compounds. I work long, late shift work and the HR person suggested going to my doctor to be checked out for Shift Work Sleep Disorder.

Not really familiar with armodafinil, but they are basically the same compound. The only difference is modafinil is a mixture of enantiomers where as armodafinil is made by selective synthesis. Different enantiomers can have very different properties. Not sure what those are in this case, but there should definitely be research available on both enantiomers. I suspect that there is no real advantage to one over the other.

Best I can tell the Armodafinil is just a single, isolated enantiomer of the Modafinil. The other enantiomer in Modafinil is supposedly inactive best that I can understand. Not sure if that changes it's effects when the two are compared. I have read that the Armodafinil maintains a higher concentration for the 13 hours that both remain active. Hopefully someone has some personal experiences with one or the other or both that they would like to share.

As long as there are no side effects from the mixture of enantiomers, I would be willing to bet that the armodafinil is just a way to sell a more expensive product as the synthesis is significantly more difficult. It also gives an opportunity for a new patent.

I’ll chime in. I take armodafinil for hypersomnia on occasion when I know I have to drive or stay awake for long periods. I’ve tried modafinil as well, and all things considered can’t tell a difference. This “study” wasn’t controlled for amounts though, as I’m currently taking 150mg of Nuvigil. I can’t remember the amount of modafinil.
Its truly changed my life though. I can read at length again. |

I've used modafinil before at my previous job; it seemed pretty worthless. Armodafinil seems more promising from what I've read

Well my doctor evaluated me and said I have narcolepsy not shift work sleep disorder. I told him about my past experiences and how I dream as soon as I fall asleep or sometimes while I am semi-conscious (wierd I know). Uncontrollable bouts of sleep that subside within few minutes or so. Sometimes I win, sometimes the sleep does, but it's never very long. I can be driving, talking to my boss (really happened), driving a tractor (tree woke me up) or doing just about anything. I never considered this to be narcolepsy. I thought narcolepsy was the woman passing out as just as she throws the bowling ball. So he prescribed me Provigil 200mg and Adderall 20mg (if insurance cost was a problem). The adderall is no good for me to function as a normal citizen. The Provigil seems to work really well. I feel alert without the jitters, increased heart rate, or the ups and downs of other stimulants. I really can't tell that I am on a stimulant, i just feel normal, awake normal, not fighting inconvenient sleep normal. I am able to go to bed without any problem. I still can't believe I have been narcoleptic this long and had no clue.

NuVigil(armodafinil) is half of Provigil(literally). Some times the total effect of a drug may come from one isomer/enantiomer, Provigil is currently having a price hike to get people to go on nuvigil, because Provigil's patent expires in 2012. Extrapolation of which drug is better is dependent on the person, the effects the S isomer interaction with the active R(armodafinal) are very complex, one person will do better on the R only isomer another on the combined(S/R). You can get a 14 day supply of Nuvigil for free from the website with a coupon/voucher.Write down the effects of Nuvigil, compare with Provigil.

Schedule 4 Provigil vs Schedule 2 amphetamine and like drugs. If a drug works well for a serious neurological disorder like narcolepsy take that drug, as it is often hard/very hard to find the right drug, provigil is expensive, though its effect can literally save your life and help you cope with and live properly with narcolepsy. |

Modalerts gives me good focus but sometimes hard memorize. It's helpful to write a vast amount of information, or if you need to stay physically up for something else. But sometimes i feel as if it doesent do much for memory, i don't know, maybe i need to try harder to store it.

I WORKED GOOD AT MODAFINIL WITH LITTLE SIDE EFFECT DRY MOUTH BUT WHEN I TRIED ARMODAFINIL IT MADE ME ILL. ARMODAFINIL UPTO 75MG,GAVE ME 0 BENEFIT,BUT WHEN I TRIED HIGHER DOSE IT MADE ME IMPATIENT,AGITATED,SEVERE ANXIETY,HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND BREATHING PROBLEM.SO ARMODAFINIL IS WORTHLESS FOR ME. I WILL CHOOSE MODAFINIL ONLY.MAY BE IN COMBINATION WITH 500-800MG PIRACETAM. IF U WANA SAY SOMETHING IM ME DIRECTLY aparaajit @ live . com |

Its good that the modafinil worked for you, the current price hike(due to the patent going to expire 1+)
does makes taking modafinil more difficult due to it being so expensive, much more so than armodafinil. I you have any issues or concerns with these medications , I may be able to help. cheers, mate |

Does anyone have any experience taking these two compounds? I would like to hear some comparisons or thoughts on the individual compounds. I work long, late shift work and the HR person suggested going to my doctor to be checked out for Shift Work Sleep Disorder. I just started taking Nuvigil (Armodafinil) 150mg/tablets - I feel like myself again; energetic, awake, not gittery , shakey or nervous. I have only been taking this less than a week but results began with the first tablet. |

Armodafinil is generally superior...not as much as R-LA is to ALA but I would certainly try it first. In my limited experience testing these class of compounds it felt "cleaner" and somewhat more potent than Modafinil and Adrafinil. |

I think the mixture of isomers works better.
