Anonymity? Options

I am perpetually torn between posting under an anonymous screen name and using my own name -- or maybe not my own name, but revealing enough about myself so that people could figure out who I am. On one hand, anonymity allows us to discuss potentially taboo topics, or to just keep the lines of communication open, which can generate more ideas/insights. On the other hand, maybe it is good to stand behind your ideas, and to claim recognition for them if you so choose.

Another thing is that many standpoints, views, explanations, or wordings can be very unique. And if you publish something else later under your real name that resembles the prior posting, it may likely be enough to identify you anyway. So if you use one screen name to discuss everything, both sensitive and non-sensitive, perhaps you are publicly revealing more than you would if just casually posting under an actual name.

Does anyone else struggle with this, or does this sound paranoid? Or both? :/

I like the Bay area. I used to head quite often there after conferences in SJ. Also had business in Richmond. I never got to LA but maybe it's not too late to try my thespian talents in Hollywood!

So Flex, which one is it? Or maybe you got shy all of a sudden? Or did you move from Redwood?
