Can science help us answer any of our moral conundrums? Is survival the primary scientific moral imperative?

It solves old ones, creates new ones. I didn't think science had anything directly to do with morals or survival though. We separately strive for survival, science is an extension of explaining our world to apply things that help, which could be an extension for survival...
either way I thought that science was purely for its sake and for the sake of application; any other aspects have deeper roots

Survival will prevail (as the scientist might say) or not, as the case may be (as the philosopher might say).

Science will describe most if not all of the mechanisms underlying human morality and its value in survival for the species or its descendants. Indeed, there has been a fair stab at elucidating behavioural mechanisms in a wide range of applications, for example altruistic behaviour relating to the promotion of survival of related DNA in a given proximity, ie survival of close and distant (both genetically and physical nearness) kin.
