This week, me and a friend of mine decided to start messing around with the ideal of creating some apps to test memory. Check out the prototype and lend some suggestions (note the crappy images are being replaced).

Note we still have a lot of work to do. This is the basic idea though.

Looks like a great start Flex. Would love to see something like this turned into an iphone/droid app.

I'm no expert on memory, but at the end of the day, with a migraine coming on and after a single (largish) whiskey, I obtained a 100% score on Beta 1. I consider my memory good and bad - that is, certain things (e.g. telephone numbers, names, car registrations, music scores) I am hopeless at, whereas others (e.g. faces, chemical formulae, movies) I am pretty good at. So what did this test, on visual cues, say about my memory. Very little really. It is too narrow and too easy (too few objects, too short a time period, too repetitive of objects). But hey, if that's all that's needed to not have Alzheimer's, then great!

Haha yeah I agree the test needs serious improvements. The funny thing is Dr. Ashford actually did use the same test for his publications. Alzheimer's patients do have very poor short term memory, so the test actually is effective, but as for the rest of us, that doesn't make for a fun test.

I am going to make some harder tests to actually challenge mentally fit individuals. Just posted some harder tests, but it will be a while before I get some good stuff worked up.

Check out the new tests (try the expert):

Oh and you also have to check the test validity. If the test validity isn't accurate you can't consider the results. This is how our validity is calculated:

Lol not sure what that means, but the site has undergone some updates--looks a bit more professional now. Still plenty of work to go smile.gif I hid all the forum stuff so all the previous links I posted probably wont work anymore.
