eating the right foods and exercising and sleeping right. you do all of those, now you take Nootropics to expand your life. but how many years can you add to your lifespan with nootropics?

i was wondering about this and if you start the process early in your life, then the more years you can live?

anybody have any articles on the possible lifespan extension for humans? is it 10 years, 20 years???

Too many variables and lack of long term human research to give a plausible answer.

Anti-aging medicine is likely to develop much more in the years to come (and it could be said that all medicine is "anti-aging" or "anti-death"). Resveratrol, Ubiquinol, Phosphatidylcholine, Curcumin, and Green Tea Extract are some of the most common substances used to help extend life, but we are likely to see much more advanced technologies in the near future. I am also of the opinion that certain proteins, amino acids, and fatty acids can help extend life.

One of the issues we face is simply the cell-death programs of apoptosis. Our genetics largely determine our lifespans, propensity to disease, etc. We may soon be able to alter the genetic codes and further prevent critical cell death. Staying active and eating healthy are still our best bets at extending our lives. Supplementation with multivitamins, nootropics and some of the above named substances may be able to help but we have to approach aging integratively IMHO. In terms of the brain specifically, its imperative to try to prevent tau tangles and amyloid beta plaque build-up.

so with nootropics, it will help to some degree, we just cant pin point how much.

so far the majority of nootropics is for brain enhancement and not life extension. i know that by default nootropics with brain enhancement will help extension but the majority is not targeted to life extension with the exception of resevatrol

I don't think that with pharmaceutical nootropics you will expend your lifespan much. For that purpose you will need good old tonics. Resveratrol is just one of those. There are so many.

For those with an open mind the real deal is chyawanprash from ayurveda. I don't think the world has a better life extending substance to offer. And the great thing about it is that after a couple of weeks of use you begin to experience great increase in energy, better thinking, no more sickness from cold and flu etc. Real results. I have not been sick for 3 years since I started. Before, for each and every year of my life I got the cold for 3 weeks for 30 years. It's a mix of 45 herbs with the main one being amla.

On the chinese side you have Reishi. The best of the best from TCM. There are many clinical research with this one. Triple remaining time of people with cancer etc.

But even with this in mind I don't think these solutions will expand life much beyond 85 years, but it will add quality to your life for certain. Expect to die one day. And try to introduce some spirituality to make some sense of life and death.

Not me!

Sometimes I think I'm just too deep. What my original comment re spelling was implying that getting old without faculty would be awful. Old timer Rick obviously doesn't have this problem! (tongue.gif) I'm just too young to have faced that issue yet! (tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif)

nothing extends life span except restricted calorie diet, SIRT-1 inducers that successfully induce it, and antioxidants. This is excluding treatments for specific conditions, E.G. fish oil and chelation preventing a heart attack that would have killed you earlier.
