Hi,

I'm looking for an alternative to alcohol that has no side effects.

Specifically what I'm trying to recreate is:

Sense of relaxation and pleasant feeling
Lowered inhibitions increasing my self-confidence and ability to be outgoing

I usually drink several glasses of red wine when I'm going out, and enjoy these effects. However, for the entire next day my mental efficiency is much lower, stifling my ability to be creative and focussed.

Furthermore, I look physically worse, it negatively affects my skin and I feel a reduced level of health. I'm aware alcohol suppresses my immune system and has a negative impact on my endocrine system. I'm no longer prepared to compromise my health, creativity and appearance for the sake of a few drinks.

My question is thus:

Who has GOOD KNOWLEDGE of any alcohol alternatives that don't have such negative side effects?

I've done my research and it appears L-Theanine, Rhodiola Rosea and Kava Kava might be useful. But so many sites on the internet are just trying to sell these products, hence I'm ideally seeking an answer from someone who has first hand experience of trying these products.

Thank you for your assistance.

awesome. everything like that will only b effective 4 so long. u could switch things every so often, or use lower doses of combos (which ive been doing lately) but i believe that would b the idea of a wonder drug which i still havent found entirely.

ive been combining valerian, kava, and theanine...it comes close to about two drinks for myself. i see myself getting used to it though, and im using it only when i take caffiene or things similar. also, if im jittery from being hung over it will take the edge off that

good luck in my never ending search.

if life didnt throw curves and i didnt enjoy going out and drinking, id say get used to living optimally without anything but good food...but thats hard enough for me to do right now

Kava kava from my experience is about as close as it gets. Good kava on the first dose will probably just knock you out, but after about a week (on the good stuff) you become completely used to it and can actually stay awake and do things =) The effects of kava are most noticeable at first. With months of use, the effects do not diminish per say, but rather establish a baseline, which will be maintained for pretty much however long you want to take it.

Theanine alone probably wont do shit. I would find a compound with a good amount of theanine, and GABA. You may also want to try out picamilon and PEA.

If you want to try heavier stuff, deprenyl feels like kava kava x10, but where as kava I would compare to being more stoney, deprenyl is more energetic and productive.

heavier stuff meaning that deprenyl is nearly contradictive of kava?

Theanine, ye wont do much if ur seeking altered states normally

gaba, bbb???

pica, supposedly works by crossing bbb...maybe synergestically?

Pea, nearly opposite of phenibut if not totally

deprenyl is a re-uptake inhibitor for pea, errrrrrr whatever it breaks into

last two are contradictory toward alcohol effects

The poster is looking for something specific. Deprenyl is at the other end of the spectrum from what he's looking for.

I do agree on theanine however. It does diddly squat to me. Even in high doses.
Phenibut and kava kava gives you a good chill out feel. Dosing too strong knocks out you out and eventually flatlines any future dose. Not too wise to do.
