QUOTE The makers of Google Ocean have denied that a grid-like pattern seen in the Atlantic Ocean is the remains of the fabled lost city of Atlantis. Rumours first appeared when the lines were spotted last week, and the site - 960 kilometres off the west coast of Africa - seemed to fit in with one of the possible sites identified by Plato. But according to the BBC, Google said in a statement that the lines were the result of sonar readings: "What users are seeing is an artefact of the data collection process. Bathymetric (or sea floor terrain) data is often collected from boats using sonar to take measurements of the sea floor. The lines reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data. The fact there are blank spots between each of these lines is a sign of how little we really know about the world's oceans." Interesting that we've got data in that pattern and position, not so much that its Atlantis. I think the sunken continent myth has been played out over and over throughout human development. I guess being an Atlantis-hunter pays well though, being able to afford sonar capable vehicles to go treasure hunting. |

Spiro Agnew used that phrase to refer to his liberal antagonists sometime before he went to jail for crimes while in high office.

umm.... yeah, I still don't see how that relates to my original post! Your original post was of a negative result on some Aquarian dream. Then I suggested that I might not be the only nattering nabob of negativity around here (a false accusation, by the way). Then you said you didn't learn your history so that you had no idea where that phrase came from. Then I refreshed you with that link to the new Agnewisms going around recently in politics, with the remark that there may be a reason that we are repeating our histories so frequently. That's how we got to this place. It's all related. |

C'mon now Rick, you are comparing King Arthur with Spiro Agnew.... that is just complete nonsense as the two are on completely different planes of historical relevance!

The Nixon Presidency, I submit, is one of the half dozen or so ones that ought to be remembered (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Kennedy, ...), but not in a good way, but for the awful historical lessons we should be learning. Nixon's jailed VP is part of that lesson. Nixon then appointed Ford as VP, Nixon's successor when he resigned.
Please note that the term "Agnewism" is a part of modern language as evidenced by that article to which I referred. A person who claims to be literate should make an effort to know these things. |

American political history was never an overriding interest of mine! Of course I know about Nixon and watergate.... who doesn't? But I had never heard of Spiro Agnew.... or if I did, it got completely erased from my data bank of memories by something more useful and relevant!

I read that those lines are sonar's lines. What negativity! Not you too, Enki! Can't you put some positive spin on it? All those naysayers! Next thing you know, you'll all be a bunch of party poopers like me. Well. I will look over Google Earth, maybe I will find Atlantis for you. The party must go on! |

Here is the possible place of one of the cities; believe me or not. No explanations.
It is located in between Malta and Pantelleria isles in Mediterranean sea. There you can see hardly observable square-like deepening along with separate more deeper tail coming from the center of the square to the Malta vicinity itself. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&....537598&t=h&z=8 So have I boosted the mood of the party Dr. Rick? Btw, I cannot attach images in this section. What is apt? Again mice? I do not eat mice but if things go in this way shall start... |
