I was listening to the radio at 3 am the other day and this was on BBC overnight. It's an interview with John Lennox (Oxford math professor) and as to why he believes in God. It's a very thorough and logically consistent interview.

Because they've been told it's their duty because the bible says so and they better put political pressure on others because they'll go to hell if they don't!
I don't kill because killing human beings is wrong, not because I believe I'll be rewarded in heaven if I don't. The religionist thinks he'll lose all control if he stops believing in god. I wouldn't trust those guys because they are only superficially good, not good in their core. Now that's not to say there are no good-to-the-core religionists. They're just confused, and they don't know it, but they will continue to be good if they lose their false beliefs. |
