Nice reverb on 'Enter Sandman'. I like 'One' a lot. Who's it originally by?
You might like these? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oyhlad64-s << Paco de Lucia, my favorite flamenco guitarist. Alternate tunings are fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs0rKW2jqMU Michael Hedges covering Bob Dylan..it doesn't start till about 1:30, but it doesn't get going until around 2:30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCSQn_Xbp-g Laurence Juber, one of the original Beatles members, turned out to be a really good finger style guitarist. This song isn't actually that hard to learn, but keeping time is. |

I love Flamenco, it just breaks out of standard musical timing. I couldnt strum for toffee, so I jumped head first into Flamenco to get some hands on experience. I still cant play Flamenco, but the hands on experience has served me well.
One is by Metallica, I chose it as a song to practice precisely because it was way out of my league, but was a nice sounding single note melody with lots of techniques to get stuck over. I almost gave up after I saw this kid: Living on a Prayer - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RZzaHi-5lk0&feature=related (this kid plays bass and melody together!) Come Together - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vS0QjEeNYpM Mission Impossible - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5IXa2pNGVj8&feature=related |

It took me a little over a month to get the flamenco strumming down, and many more months to be able to learn other patterns quickly. I had to practice everywhere I went, at school, on the bus, while reading, etc... on the side of leg. The rhythmic patterns seem simple when you break them down and start slowly and then build up speed. And when you play them yourself, it literally sounds like you're shuffling through guitar strings.
Don't give up : ) |

I've not revisited flamenco or any of those songs because I have been working on a few Jack Johnson songs. Here's the first semi done song with singing. It needs a bit of bongo style drums and better recording, but its all mine and sounds great to me!
Its the top one, If I Could. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=903342 |
