As I recall, it was a scheme to leave a computer running with a message on the screen requesting any ghost passing by to click the mouse or operate a sensitive switch something like that to provide an easy way for the dead to communicate with the living. Unfortunately it won't work because dead people don't exist. They have passed away and are gone forever.
