many of you may have noticed a large increase in spam postings over the past few weeks, with often over six spam postings per day. Well, I'm pleased to announce that this has been dealt with. The details involve the implementation of anti-spambot registration, and should put an end to spambot postings. Judging from the fact that over the past 4 days, no spambot postings have been made, the anti-spambot modifications seem to be working.

This time, I hope people didn't mind me deleting when I thought appropriate (and where I could).

Thanks, Lucid. I wonder if you glitched datta-stunami out by fortunate accident, as well; being that I haven't heard from him in ages. And I wonder what's become of "The One" lately, since I haven't heard from him in ages. Since you took over administration duties from him, to be more exact. When will he give us a little update on his research whereabouts? What's he up to nowadays?

hi CB. I'm not "The One", but am one of many, many researchers working on better understanding brain organization. I'm still doing neuroscience research in northern California, working on getting money from the government to support my research, and at some point in the near future, will obtain a faculty position, probably in academia, and will become a fully independent researcher. We are in the midst of a revolution in brain science, involving unprecedented methods for visualizing, analyzing, and manipulating neuronal structure and function, and I am very happy to participate in this in my fullest capacity. The long-term view certainly involves consciousness, and its enhancement. But pragmatism demands that we focus on understanding neural organization and coding first. The consciousness component will come later, and I cannot predict when, maybe within the next five years, maybe within the next twenty, but come it will. I post under the pseudonym 'lucid_dream' to make my posts, and subsequent replies, more objective, since I would prefer not to bring my person into the mix unnecessarily. |

I don't know at what point you told us that Lucid and Shawn were the same entity; but I missed it all along. You must think I'm an idiot! I can't stop laughing!!! Oh well! Shawn: I apoligize for all my insults. They were directed at Lucid!!! LOL!!! Oh yea!!! I'm so glad to hear about your progress. It sounds like we're still on schedule for the CS event then. I've always know it would take place within my life-time. It's exciting and encouraging to hear such good news. Hey, wait just a minute! You got some explaining to do here! How come Lucid and Shawn's personality forum projections are so different, then?. Lucid is more emotional and pragmatic in his posts. Something doesn't equate here. |

Am I missing something? Shawn is in Baltimore and Lucid is at Berkeley. How can they be the same person?

hey CB, don't worry about anything you've said. I haven't said anything previously about being LD because it never really came up before. I've been in Davis for the past 3 years doing postdoctoral work, trying to get additional funding for my research and to get completely independent, and also keeping an eye out for relevant faculty positions to apply for. The CS is still on track, but first things first, we have to acquire a better understanding of neural organization and function, which is what I've been working hard on. Rick, I completed my doctoral work in Baltimore, but moved out to Davis for my postdoctoral work. I'm not sure where Berkeley came up, but it's nearby, about 45 mins west of here.

Hmm, Lucid is Shawn. I can understand why a mod would do that, lol. Now to completely bamboozle us all, let the cat out of the bag and admit to being Enki too lol. *Joke*

you spelled it correct, HH. Not trying to pull a schizo, or otherwise post under an alter-ego, but rather found it easier to administrate under a pseudonym.

I post under the pseudonym 'lucid_dream' to make my posts, and subsequent replies, more objective, since I would prefer not to bring my person into the mix unnecessarily. OMG, I stopped by to see what's going these days on at BrainMeta and saw this revelation. I simply couldn't resist logging in! You see, I figured it out long ago--and even said so in the Acronym Word Game. In truth, I wasn't 100% certain--OnlyNow I know for sure! Check it out: http://brainmeta.com/forum/index.php?showt...superman&st=315 QUOTE STOCKHOLDERS And notice in my goodbye post (2nd one on the thread), I tacked "/ld" onto Shawn's name: Superman's total opposite: Clark Kent; however, ordinarily, lucid dream ENTIRELY resembles Shawn. http://brainmeta.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15654&hl= QUOTE Anyway, enough. Good luck with the new forum, the singularity, and Cybert. (For God's sake, don't forget to donate!) Thanks to all, especially Shawn/ld ;-) Glad to see the forum is still alive and kicking. Good riddance to the spambots--but you know you're going to miss dattatsunami! |

Yes, OnlyNow, it seems you caught on long ago, but listen, using an alias was not meant to trick people; it was just a means to distance my personal identity from my posts and from forum moderation, because I saw no reason for including it.
If i'd more time, i would expound on some interesting thoughts. A lot has happened since the start of this forum. My basic beliefs haven't changed about the importance of expanding consciousness and the best means for permanently doing so, through first better understanding neuronal organization. I'll have to provide an update soon. |
