Hi, there!
I'm a college student who decided to major in Neurobiology after sorting through the various offshoots of neuroscience there are. Currently, I'm interested in Nutritional Sciences and the crossroads between that field and neuroscience. I like the various studies about antioxidants and such. I also find this field fascinating because I was recently diagnosed with ADHD-inattentive type, and my introspective side always arranges all these qualities of my thinking and behavior in different ways in order to explain why I am the way I am. I think this is the inherent curiosity that lends psychology to being such an influence on pop culture. Additionally, I also like cognitive science, but for a long time, found the a.i. aspect bit hard to grasp. The analogy of the brain to a computer seemed too odd for me to just accept. Maybe that'll change, though. Who knows? I'm not sure what exactly I would like to do in the field, but I've decided to start with neurology for now, since I think all successful disciplines should come to terms with their origins. B/c neurology concerns itself with a distinct organ system, I find it an easy place to start. In any case, I'd love to hear from people that know more about these topics( nutrisci, antioxidants, pathology, etc.) than I do. I also would like to find out how I can access other events, publications, etc. like the SfN conference for example. Although, I think that's hard since I'm just a student with little research experience and no publication. |
