Once Upon A Time… Options

Once upon a time there was a little girl. She was a sad little girl, because no one liked her, and no one cared about her.
One day the little girl met a little boy. They became good friends.
The little girl liked the little boy very much, and she thought he liked her too.
She was finally a happy little girl. She had someone to play with her and look after her.
She really thought he cared about her.
But she was wrong. He just wanted to play… He didn’t really care about her at all...
He used her, and when he had gotten everything he could from her, he left her.
She was a sad little girl again.
She didn’t want to be sad again. She wanted to be a happy little girl. She didn’t want to go back to being sad and numb and lonely again.
So the little girl smiled.
She smiled, and tried not to think about the little boy.
She pretended she was happy, hoping that she could trick herself into really being happy.
It didn’t work…
The little boy kept reappearing in her life. It made her hurt even more.
He told her she was happy. He told her it didn’t hurt.
She smiled.
He told her she was a good little girl.
He told her he had a new little girl to play with, and that he liked the new one way more than he’d ever liked her.
And then he left again.
She kept smiling, but inside she was screaming.
The little girl didn’t understand why the little boy was treating her like this.
All she’d ever wanted was someone to like her…
Now, all she wanted was for all of it to stop.
And so, the little girl found a gun…
She pressed the barrel to her temple.
She made it stop.

Once upon a time there was a little girl. She was a sad little girl, because no one liked her, and no one cared about her.
She killed herself.
