Hi there,

I have been aware of the below symptoms for several years now and have just recently discovered noostropics and am open to suggestions for the following symptoms:

a constant state of spacyness, a kind of impenetratable fog

the lack of assosiative thought or mind freeze which maifests in the inability to recall words but also memorys, both long term and short term, as in maintaining interest or track of train of thought in conversations.

this mind freeze also seems to occur when I try to think about one line of thought for too long, too long is usually 5 to 10 seconds

inability to fully comprehend incoming information, a sense of surrealness, spacyness, unconcreatness

dull reaction time

inability to focus

inability for my mind to find comapaisons, as in when looking for practical evidence for a hypothesis

thoughts constantly seeming fractured, unspecific, unorganized

I once did some research on learning disorders and all of this was strikeingly familier to the following excerpt:

A primary cause of language comprehension problems is difficulty creating an imaged gestalt-a whole. This is called weak concept imagery. This weakness causes individuals to only get "parts" such as a few facts or details rather than the whole picture.

Individuals with weak concept imagery have difficulty with reading comprehension, critical thinking, and may not easily follow directions or connect to conversations. They may also have difficulty expressing ideas in an organized manner. If they read well, but are severely unable to comprehend they may be labeled hyperlexic or high-functioning autistic, including Asperger's.

An obvious question would be what am I comparing all these lacks of to?

Which I answer that there have been times when I have used stimulants, mostly cocain and to a lesser degree amphetamine and alot of these symptoms have dissapeared, only to return after the initial high.

But I am intuitivly sure that a more stable state of mind/functioning must exist but am unsure of what to ingest first?

Another question that I have for any of you who may be more in depth about the brain functioning and disorders, learning disorders/differences such as the one above are said to be mostly neurological, genetic and so unchangable/hardwired. Does anybody have information that points otherwise? Do noostropics affect change on cognitiv processes such as ability, in specific, to comprehend, to organize thoughts more efficently, to see the whole conceptual picture. It seems alot of the noostropics research is based around memory, attention, recall, the occuring chemical reactions and such and not specific cognitive processes such as concept imagery, that make up learning disorders. Anybody know of any specialists that work with this kind of thing, heard of any research?

Long post I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest cholinergic potentiation, through cholinesterase inhibitors and otherwise. Also aerobic exercise.

btw, how old are you?

cholinesterase inhibitors = huperzine, galantamine
nicotine stimulates nicotinic receptors and will also work but is addictive
