I think in way more than 4 spacial dimensions all the time... You have 3 translational directions, and two rotational for any given object. That is already 5 dimensions... All you have to do is add orthogonal rotations indefinitely, and you can think in as many dimensions as you want. The trick is that we are always confined by the first 3 dimensions, and free to move about any additional dimensions we should choose to add.
If you don't want to call it time, don't. Call it x. A function w=a+b+c+d.... can have as many dimensions as you want. I mean come on... The new iPhone accelerometer can sense your position in 10 spatial dimensions. You cannot visualize it without time because all functions that are continuous imply time. If this were not the case how could you take the derivative of the function? Go space-time! |

Since this was one of the last posts before I checked out I will come back to it.
Go space-time! Lots of dimensions just suck. Start thinking about that crap and you will just end up studying Bessel functions and you may very well end up in the psyche ward. The possible implications to biology are kind of interesting in that we cannot predict a priori the folding of DNA and RNA as there is an inverse folding that may occur. Just ask Phi! I gave him access to my lecture notes right before I ventured off the deep end |
