a twist of time

a twist of time upon this clock that beats existence
the very heart, that once so fast, has met its distance
all mechanisms feeding soul are winding down
avoiding being stepped upon that once was crown
as thunderstorms inside the crackling skull precede the rain
the shelter made of deity and memories is in vain

accelerating notions now pass by closing eyes of mind
searching each and every crevice, one more glimpse to find
associations with the out there in here, all the journeys
of life in blood and travelling stars in frozen galleries
as celestial seasons change the heavenly art through arcs
then so is truth, brushed lightly by the hypnotist’s remarks

the landscape of the years, the taste of which sublime
the clock now stopped, a silent beat, a final twist of time

I must say, my dear friend of longstanding, that I believe this to be the very best thing of yours which I have ever read. It really does attain the sublime, especially in moments like these:

as celestial seasons change the heavenly art through arcs
then so is truth, brushed lightly by the hypnotist's remarks

"The hypnotist's remarks"! That really is wonderful.

I am reminded of Eliot, and that is always a good thing, for anyone.

I think you really do have something here. Please, just keep at it like this, going and growing as you are, and the world will be a little better, a little less unbearable, and you will have shown yourself a poet who can afford a little smile at what you can do.

Now I had better see what I can do...

Respect and solidarity, and love across the sea,

+Stevie
