That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen
I have hated math ever since I was introduced to: X=.999etc. 10X=9.999etc. 9X=9 X=1 1=.999etc |

If you're not too clever with the conventional techniques of simple mathematics, there is another way to work out the answers !!
see http://www.shoutfile.com/v/fbpANixx/Easy_M...plication_Trick I can't figure out how it works, but it sure does (even though it gets messy with big numbers). |

That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen I have hated math ever since I was introduced to: X=.999etc. 10X=9.999etc. 9X=9 X=1 1=.999etc 1) 9x = 8.999etc. 9*1 = 9.0 x = 0.999etc. 2) x = 0.999etc. 10x = 9.999etc. 9x = 8.999etc. 10x - 9x = 1x 1x = x 1x = 0.999etc. 1*x not equal to 1 = x 1*x = 0.999etc. 1 = 0.999etc./x 1 = x/x 9.999etc. - 8.999etc. = 1 = x/x 1 = x/x = 0.999etc./0.999etc. 1 = 1 x = 0.999etc. 1 may equal 1/1 but it also equals 2/2. x is neither 1 or 2. In the context of the math x is 0.999etc. 3) 9x = 9 x = 9/9 = 1 9x = 8.999etc. x = 8.999etc./9 = 0.999etc. 9x = 27 x = 27/9 = 3 x = 3 = 1 = 0.999etc. not likely x does not equal 1 and 0.999etc. at the same time. 1.0 > 0.999etc. Ask yourself this. What decimal added to 1.0 equals 1.0? And what decimal added to 0.999etc. would it take to equal 1.0 exactly? It takes a decimal for only three decimal places with 0.999 to equal one already. 0.999etc. is a smaller number than 1.0. PJS |

Just how does an abstract discipline like mathematics find itself mixed up with a notion as difficult to pin down as that of faith. What is this thing called faith anyway? As far as I can see, I never saw faith walking around, nor was I ever able to touch it. As much as I might have wanted a heavy dose of faith as a Christmas present some years, I do not ever remember anyone telling me that they just picked me up a nice piece of faith in the local mall and got a great deal on it.

Homework help If I said that I believe you... that would take faith. You can count on it... that would take math. |
