From the notebook of Lazarus Long, aged a little over 1000 years . . .

"Anyone who cannot cope with Mathematics is not fully human. At best (he) is a tolerable sub-human who has learned to wear shoes, bathe, and not make messes in the house"

From "Time Enough For Love" by Robert A. Heinlein.

To cope
To maintain a contest or combat usually on even terms or with success -- used with with b : to deal with and attempt to overcome problems and difficulties -- often used with with
( Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

I guess you can say I was sub-human for most of my child-hood, then. I hated it (math) with a passion back then.
