I have forgotten my life somehow
I would remember but... better not
Time knows no delay except decay
I am not who I was (if I was
Ever even anyone) at all

I was someone else but I forgot
Just who that was who was long ago
Lost in the service of some lost cause
Yet I played my part however small

Why? I cannot say nor do I know

I was young then when I went away
Back when life was long and time was slow
Another lifetime another day
Too far in the past to see from now

I am uncertain as to whether
I could even find the words to say
Alone now how it was together
Before those pieces of yesterday
Shattered (if they mattered) anyway

They say "life goes on" ...so here I go
