Hi. My name is Ryan and I'm pretty new to poetry writing. Here's one of my pieces so please let me know what you think. I lie here thinking about the world around me, about the trials and tribulations of the many. Why should the few have plenty and the plenty have few? It makes no sense and yet it is the non-sense that makes it reality. Yet as I lie here I am removed from reality and their pain is mine no more, for I am me and here I exist in the world I created which makes me all-powerful, controller of all the many questions which make no sense. Then I leave and even when I vacate my space and venture out into the harsh world of reality there is sometimes a residue of that control. A sense of power that is inherent in all, not just me. If only we could recognise that we, the many, are what makes this world what it is. It is us which makes the world go round, not the money myth. And to acknowledge selfishness as the root of our many failings would help make our reality a less depressing place to be. For me this leaves a sense of hope. There may not be reason to bury our sense of compassion in the ground… But something makes me start. Something is wrong, but with me? No. There is something different here and I realise my folly. There’s no such place in reality for these many dreams. There is but one place that these many wishes are possible and I was removed from my sense to miss it. It is here, back in my world, away from reality where again it is I who makes the rules. Here, safe in my haven, I can reflect and think that I am only me and as there aren’t many of me I can do little but hope there are others with sense and that one day unity makes us able to change our reality. |

meg, Dejae, kenny and ryan,
Can I take this opportunity to welcome each of you to mind-brain? I hope you each find that which you seek amongst what is becoming a large family now. And, Ryan, I encourage you to post your poetry on the poetry pages. I have written a few myself, though they are not particularly popular and I am no expert. Your work above satisfies what is to me the most important aspect of poetry, ie., content - having something useful to say. However, the purists, whilst accepting that 'poetry' includes any form of writing, will possibly conclude that your work would be better in prose format. To the future... all, whether reading or writing, may enjoyment and enlightenment ensue [as someone famous once said]. All the best, Bill. |

Hello everybody.I sort of introduced myself on another post before knowing that I could introduce myself here,so please forgive me.
I have been looking for something like this site for ages now, wanting to share and compare ideas, and maybe learn something new-I'm well pleased!I am particularly interested in psychological theories of mind-expansion,how hallucinogenics work(particularly mushrooms),and the psychology of the drug-induced ego-death experience-is there a method? Anyway, see you all soon.Bye! |

Great site! I was searching for info for a comparative analysis paper I am doing on Erikson vs Jung, Personality Theories. It was interesting to note that the info is somewhat slanted in Jung's corner, but the info on Erikson was interesting non the less. Anyway, that is how I found this site.
Will make it a "favorite". Dayna |

HI,
Last night I was searching for something both scholarly and readable to post on an ezboard site I administer, called MASLOW'S FIFTH. I found it, posted and provided the link back here. Hope you're cool with that, if not let me know! http://p082.ezboard.com/ftestforum17073frm...picID=350.topic Mind/Brain looks like an exciting place, I'm glad I found it. Robin Plan aka flawedplan |

It's called OUR COMMON CONDITION and can be accessed here: http://p214.ezboard.com/bourcommoncondition97317 Thanks for your consideration. Robin (flawedplan) |

Hello everyone. My name is Jericho, I am 26 years old and I'm from Toronto, Canada.
I am one of many whose life has been touched by this giant mental construction of ours called brainmetaDOTcom. I was pointed this way by a co-worker; and of course, nothing happens by accident - so here I am! I'm here so that I could connect with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to "instilling the world with new and greater meaning". And we all come from different places, backgrounds, and even eras! =) So firstly, I think it serve us to have official introductions such as this space; especially for new persons like myself! ... Am looking forward to co-creating with you all. Cheers & hello! -Jericho |

Hello Jericho,
...and welcome to brainmeta! I just noticed your intro. so had a read. I must admit I tend to follow the recent topics rather than browse through boards which don't appear there. Nonetheless, I do hope you give and take in good spirit and add to the sites wealth of experience. Enjoy yourself and make good friends! Bye for now, Bill. |

Shouldn't all recent topics show up in that list?

They did at one time Rick, but I think Shawn wanted the 'key' topics only in the recent list.
Perhaps Shawn will consider two options at some time. One called 'central (or equivalent word) recent topics', and one called 'extended recent topics'. |

Well, I goofed even on creating a username. I used to be able to type in the dark. Now that I'm on Social Security, OldTimer's Disease is setting in. I wanted to adopt the handle "SacksFan" in honor of one of my favorite writers, Oliver Sacks. javascript:add_smilie("")

hi,
i'm studying molecular biology, although my main interests lying in the area of the neurosciences. my general attitude towards sciences tends to being critical with each demonization of new technologies/insights which occur regularly in history (beginning with prosecution of scientists by the church during the middle ages, "war on drugs", i.e. distrust in each medically used substance since the seventies and more recently, fear of everything that has to do with genetics, to name a few examples) well, it's a pity that i didn't find this forum earlier |

Welcome micro active!
I won't even attempt to find µ on my computer! Have fun, teach and learn, approve and disagree but above all enjoy yourself. I notice that you have posted on a little used board entry (you may notice the date of each post on its top line) but no matter, just see if there is another similar board entry elsewhere if no-one else says 'hello' to you here. Take care, Bill. |

Hi µ-active,
Welcome to brain meta, it is the only forum on this planet containing cutting edge of specific knowledge about the brain. You may find here quite strange things, gang og Jumpers will try to read your brains on distance but if you pass all barriers you will know quite interesting things. |
