Night

Weary of eating and excreting
Weary of giving
My all as I watch my country fall
Victim to each new stupidity
Draining the meaning from you and me

Fearful of living
Fearful of meeting and of greeting
Myself in the mirror after all
Of this has gone amiss and awry

Weary and fearful to live to die
Or whatever I am supposed to do
At the end of time as they tell me now
All I can do is write these words for you
And hope someone understands them somehow

Alone: and yet... the moon is beautiful the stars are bright!
I will forget the mocking day... and give myself to night

Thank you, Cousin!

I find that I am sleeping all day and living my life at night these days, or I should say "these nights."

Things get "curiouser and curiouser," in the world in general and in the USA in particular. I find it all easier to take when most of my fellow Americans are asleep.

My cat Freddie Noodles and I live a good if quiet nocturnal life together here, and the sky is beautifully clear because of the Santa Ana winds this time of year.

Thank you for being here, Cousin Greg. Now it is my late mother's birthday, 24 January. May eternal light shine upon her.

Cheers and love, and a cousinly g'day,

+Stevie

I must concur with everyone on this. Talent, beauty, the whole thing. You have the wonderful ability to drag everyone, kicking and screaming perhaps, with you and make them feel. Amazing write, I love it. ~
