May Day Song

May has come! And come what may
Winter night to summer day
Now must yield as blooms the field

Cold begone! Now blown away
Relegated to the past
By the breath of life at last

May has come excitedly
Come what may and come right in
All its joys to be revealed
Gladden May as much as me

Now the best days can begin

All my past Mays still as sweet
Savored in my memory
Every year their joys repeat
Bursting forth today they say:

Love comes into bloom in May!
