Hi,

I am interested in talking to people who have had this experience, are family members of people who have had this experience or know of anyone who has had this experience. Specifically I would like to know when a parent has:

1) some ongoing symptoms of mental illness, AND/OR
2) has a diagnosis of mental illness, AND/OR
3) is having treatment for a mental illness

what specific support needs do they have that are different from other parents because they also have a mental illness. So, I am asking:

1) what effect do the above have on the parenting role and the things you do from time to time in that role?
2) Are there some areas where a particular type of support would be really helpful?
3) What sort of support would this be?
4) How could the health system help more with the effects of mental illness on parenting?
5) Is there any specific support that children, partners, or other family members need when they are in a family where the parent has a mental illness?

Can anybody comment on any of these areas?
