Why did we stop inventing gods?

The ancients were quite good at inventing new gods. The bible shows that the Jews invented many gods before deciding that god could not be defined and settled for I am, as the greatest expression of god. I am as spoken as a man.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJkNs512Lsk

Jews, in their oral tradition, gave man the last word in what god and his policies were to be. They accepted that the man they chose as head Rabbi of their Divine council had the power to overrule their written tradition. Mans words, not an imaginary god, had the final say on policy. Man was supreme and not one of the imaginary gods.

Christianity then changed much of the morals and policies of their newly invented god, Yahweh, and also transferred the power of god to a man. Jesus. Jesus was now placed at the power seat at the right hand of his newly invented god and placed Yahweh in the right hemisphere of the brain, as shown in the art of the day as depicted by Michelangelo in his creation painting in the Vatican.

Islam then invented Allah, and so far, rightfully named him the last god to be invented. Foolish but true to date.

I see that search for a god as a search for the best laws and rules to live life by. After all, we cannot follow an imaginary god and can only follow the laws and rules that those imaginary gods has spoken, recognizing of course, that only a person can speak those laws and rules and that it was really a wise person who was uttering those words.

Gnostic Christians always saw those invented gods, specifically Yahweh, Jesus and Allah, as immoral and not worthy of us and that is why they named those gods as immoral and vile demiurges. This is not to say that those demiurges did not have some good policies but only says that a better god could and should be invented. Gnostic Christianity lost the god wars and was decimated the moment Christianity gained political power which they used to end freedom of religion.

Are immoral demiurges like Yahweh, Jesus and Allah, the best that mankind can come up with?

Why do you think we stopped inventing gods and settled for demonstrably immoral ones?

Regards
DL

P.S. Gods are the opium of the people.

Each religion (similar to, and not exclusive to those you listed) is defined by the beliefs in what exists, following the spiritual insights or the studies of those who had their own spiritual experiences and visions. Having shared their insights (these saints and prophets), those others who had no experience would imagine what these spiritual experiences detailed, and began to form their own opinions and laws regarding the universe.

If you were to look into the similarity of the religions you mention, they have a foundation in similarity to a description of something described by the saint or prophet. They themselves never described any kind of belief system but rather a direct experience or vision based on their own spiritual insights.

Any story can be told and then embellished by someone who wants to take the story in their own direction.
As does the media today in order to sell an idea or belief, and as did the heads of a church, synagogue or mosque did in order to define gods law in order to rule the law as they would prescribe gods needs.

Jesus never defined God, but rather spoke of his experience in relationship to what people understood about God and God's role in the descriptions given by the current institutions of worship prior to his out coming. It was the church that took scripture and defined Jesus and God in their relationship, as well as the relationship of God and man.
Same with every other spiritual saint. Buddha, Muhammad, Zoroaster, Confucius etc... all described their visions and experiences simply to educate the innocent towards their own experience. Unfortunately few people accepted these visions or experiences as normal, and set the visionary and their experiences, into an exalted state of grace above and beyond the ordinary man. The founders of each religion then took advantage of the innocent by prescribing an idea that only a few select individuals were capable of defining God's needs and the purpose of man in fulfilling God's need.
That need is continually being defined by time and the needs of the church in order to steer the worshipers towards an order of discipline and belief. One of the most recent big name religions is the Jehovahs witnesses. Their bible was written in the early 20th century. Yet it is not the only religion to come about recently. Religions are like seasons. They come and go with the winds of change.

Gods such as those described in Greek mythology or even the Hindu religion are derived from the qualities of the universe made manifest in relative vision by exalted visionaries. These qualities were not originally described as being separate from each other in relative order to be worshiped as a deity, any more than heat is to be indicated as a god and separate from the quality of cold relative to temperatures that can be experienced in duality.

But any good salesman can sell an idea, and anyone who gives their minds to an authority above and beyond their own experience or ability to research and gain understanding, is bound to accept the universe as it is sold to them as a prescription for understanding and fulfilling the meaning of life.

In scripture, this blind authority over man (the blind acceptance of anything in reality by an individual) is eluded to as "The Beast"! Anyone who simply accepts anything in reality without taking what is said to them into direct experience is said to wear the mark.
Think about it. We accept what we are told by every teacher in school what is taught as the truth.
We accept what is told to us by the Church we belong to as the reality of God
We accept what is reported to us on the news for what is real in the world, and even tho it is told differently in every country based on their view of reality we accept it as our truth without ever thinking about seeing things differently the way others see things.

Relative to "the beast" a god man has made recently is the internet and everything it has to say about reality.
Man has let his soul and his mind follow it obediently like a hungry dog, taking in everything it has to offer as the authority over the common man for it's truths and its power to move man towards what it proclaims man to be and what the universe is in relationship to man.

There is an interesting study based on the idea that anyone will follow the direction of the authority no matter how morally wrong it can be. Based on what was called the Milgram experiment, psychologists found that you could easily get 100% compliance from anyone by simply presenting an authority to dictate what is real, regardless of whether it was or not.

We are not taught from birth to discover ourselves. Instead we are given descriptions and laws of humanity and the universe to comply to, by our parents, society and the social mores of the time. With all the conflict of information and belief, we are struggling to find uniformity or control.

And its not unusual for man to destroy each other in order to bring the personal belief to rule. It is the history of mankind to kill for the sake of cleansing differences in opinion and belief.

You are mistaken if you think we stopped inventing Gods.
