One cannot change oneself, but one can realise oneself.

Hui-Neng* called Selfrealisation, the realisation of one’s own mind essence.

Ya gotta love people who quote scripture without really spending much time on the details of what is being said.

The one thing that does not change is the essence of what is in everything, including the unique appearances of individuality. However, that which does not change, cannot be captured within the relative, and as such, appears as change in order to support the diversity and infinite potential of the Unchanging Self.

The Caveat however to the statement of not being able to change ones SELF is that one must KNOW the SELF. Simply speaking of it does nothing to bring it forward and into experience. One must discipline the mind thru activity in order to set aside the busy mind that wanders everywhere but where the SELF resides.

Awareness of the EGO (everything goes outward) is in the change and activity of the outward going senses. The inner senses having atrophied from the neglect of their use in support of the outer senses in activity require charging.. so to speak. Let a battery sit long enough it will lose its charge from inactivity, or a muscle will atrophy from not being used.

One will need to still the outward going mind, clear the lens of sight that has been covered by the ego and its identification with the relative, and guidance is required from one who has traversed the path.

I would recommend direct feedback from one who is experienced, rather than leave it to anyone that relies on ones own inexperience and cognitive awareness that is not conditioned, or rather experienced with what is being read, and and then left open to the imagination as interpretation.

No one ever read(s) their way into enlightenment!

I agree completely. But since there is (lamentably) an obvious lack of feedback, some reading might illuminate the way.
