Hi folks - I'm new to this forum and because of my disability (cfs/fibro w/mito damage and possible genetic metabolic disorder) my cognition has suffered dramatically, along with worsening of long-standing major depressive disorder, so apologies in advance for what I know will be a patchwork of a post, but I'm doing my best to describe my situation and need. Formerly I was a world-renouned animal behaviorist (you may have seen me perform w/my horse Blanco who stared as Shadowfax in Lord of The Rings movies). Now I'm mostly bedridden and wheelchair bound from a fatigue disorder, post exertional disorder from stress, intellectual or physical exertion, with significant cognitive decline of IQ from 168 to 102 (primarily due to difficulty processing information) confirmed with neuropsych testing. I also have a muscle pain disorder so severe that has put me in the hospital 4 times in the past 6 months, which has been untreatable as I am allergic to anything morphine, ketamine or acetaminophen-based.

But the reason I'm writing in is because I'm focusing on right now is finding some improvement for lifelong depression which has become worse in the last 4 years (understandably as I've lost my ability to pursue my one and only passion of liberty and trick-training and performing w/animals). I don't respond well to SSRIs, SNRI, tricyclics, lithium or light stimulation and I have a genetic predisposition to low serotonin, gaba, norepinephrine and dopamine (have only experienced runner's high once in my life and my reward center is so haywire, it would take winning the lottery to light my brain up and yes, even sex doesn't do it for me and I haven't been interested in it for over 25 years).

So recently purchased a Fisher Wallace Stimulator and after 5 days of using it at recommended setting of 20 minutes twice a day at level 2 setting, I am sleeping more and more each day (up to 18 hours now) and barely conscious when I do get up - a brain fog, confusion and incoordination that simply does not subside, with no ability to focus and loss severe loss of memory. And if this weren't enough, I'm more depressed, disinterested in everything, including food and am experiencing hostility and a total lack of patience.

Since this unit doesn't have the ability to adjust frequency, is there perhaps a better CES I should try to alleviate (or at least improve) my depression? Plus I have the chaos-phoebic type of ADD also. I also saw a recommendation on this forum for a Davis Pal36 light device. So any suggestions are sincerely appreciated for a way to help my depression that isn't pharmaceutical-based (perhaps a CES unit with frequency options so I can find one that doesn't turn me into a vegetable?), as I have so many adverse reactions to neuropharmaceuticals (some of which have been life threatening).

One side note, I also have a muscle pain syndrome that has been bounced around as possibly being fibro but none of the 10 plus specialists (incl 2 pain specialists) has been able to do anything to provide me relief. Strangely, before using the Fisher Wallace Stimulator, I had noticed about a 80% increase in cognitive function and a 60% reduction in pain 2 days after starting a prescription progesterone treatment (100mg 2xdail), with some days I'm now completely pain free after 4 years in agony. Go figure. Now if it would only improve my depression...
