Our genes may prove that we indeed are all family.

Humans are so closely related that our entire population shows less genetic diversity than that of a small group of chimpanzees. Its almost as though we all came from the same town - and perhaps we did. Geneticists have announced that each of us descended from a population made up of as few as 2,000 hunter-gatherers who lived in Northern Africa between 70,000 and 140,000 years ago. If the analysis holds up, it supports the controversial out-of-Africa theory that Homo sapiens evolved in Africa before migrating to other continents.

ok, so we're all related... what significance does this have? no matter how closely we're related, we're all humans and we will all interact and behave how we have been interacting and behaving, and the closeness of our relationship seems insignificant to me... but maybe i am looking at it from a blocked angle? what do you think the significance of our relationship is?

RtB

Knows that little part of the story too - it is only part of the story and the hobbit and lice tell a greater non-racist or HSS centered story.

according to New Scientist v.184 #2477 p. 4 all known remains of Homo florensiensis are being held under lock and key by Teuku Jacob of Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta. Jacob does not believe that the remains represent a new species, and is restricting access to the remains to a team of hand-picked scientists.

The tree of life with its many branches, and it's few original roots.

The branching universe. According to Hugh Everett (1957), when a quantum system is presented with a choice of outcomes, the universe splits so that all possible choices are realized. This implies that any given universe is continually branching into a stupendous number of near-copies.

Every time a measurement takes place the universe branches again.

Bryce DeWitt, "Every quantum transition taking place in every star, in every galaxy, in every remote corner of the universe is splitting our local world here on earth into myriads of copies of itself....Here is schizophrenia with a vengeance."

have you ever read any books in "his darkest materials" series by philip pullman? it deals with a branching universe, replicas of worlds, and different dimensions.

No, but it sounds intriguing though and will endeavour to explore, thanks.

What is it that he said specifically? Do you recall?

yes, pullman is a science fiction writer. his novels are fact and common theory enveloped in speculation and hypothesis with a few spots of fantasy imbedded.

i would su99est t4at you start wit4 t4e 9olden compas, it is t4e first book in `4is darkest materials` series. as far as w4at you are in store for, approac4 t4e series wit4 patience. t4e first book is pretty so-so and it dosnt 9et 9ood till t4e end. t4e second book is pretty 9ood, and t4e t4ird book blows t4e ot4er two out of t4e water. so approac4 t4em wit4 patience and an open mind, youll probably 9ain a lot out of t4em.

All words and obfuscation surrounding a complicated issue that many people do not understand.

I would love to see how they explain the analogous situation of the TV studio and the TV picture seen on our screens.
"The people are not actually inside your television"!
"You are not seeing what you think you are seeing".

Certainly, symbolism and data conversion take place, but I am more than satisfied that the human brain comes up with a pretty good representation of 'what's out there'.
